Trying to Find my New Normal

It has been a long time since my last post, but I do have a good reason. My mother passed away at the end of July. She was 86 and had had a good long life....but she was still my mother. I have stayed quite busy trying to help my dad who is just lost without her. They had been married for almost 64 years.

I also lost my brother at the end of June, just before my daughters wedding. 2008 will be a year we always will remember, the year of great joy and great sorrow. The wedding was lovely and we are eagerly anticipating the birth of our first grandchild. I have done a lot of shopping in etsybaby for lovelies for her. I also had saved my childrens baby buggy and I have it all ready.

As for new items I only have one, Bitty Butterfly. She is very cute and can also be made with blue wings for a boy. Billy Butterfly!

New items

I am back! The wedding is over and was a complete success. We have had a relaxing week trying to get over it. Both kids were here staying for a couple days and we loved that! Lindsay and Kipp (the newlyweds) are back in Kansas City, and PJ and Amy are on their way back to Philadelphia.Sadly, tomorrow we will go back to work. Working hard!

I am still very busy creating new items for both http://www.karenmary.etsy.com/
and http://www.kayandco.etsy.com/. My latest addition is an alpaca and mohair scarf. I love working with the alpaca and mohair, it has such beautiful texture. I also made a throw which I am very proud of. Both of these items can be found in kayandco. I was also very proud that my felted sunflower pincushion is featured in the $15 and under gift guide on etsy. It is also in kayandco.
As for karenmary I have some new things as well. I just finished a cotton teddy bear named "Sunny". That bear is so fun to make, that I hope it is a big success. I also have a new sweater and hat set featuring poppies, one of my favorite flowers.
I am going to have to slow down a bit on the shop as my daughters wedding is coming up next month. We have the invitations all made and ready to mail next week. They came out even better than we could have imagined. We are still working on the favors and decorations. It is coming up so fast! The dress I have ordered has been backordered so the stress continues!

New Shop

I have just created my second shop on etsy called www.kayandco.etsy.com to enable me to experiment with all kinds of yarn crafts. While www.karenmary.etsy.com is all about babies, which I love, I also like to be able to branch out a bit. kayandco also gives me the opportunity to promote some other family members. Right now I am featuring some of my sisters dishcloths. She has created lots of interesting patterns for them and is doing a great job.
